Michael Irvin - 1988 Draft Day Picks

Michael Irvin was born on March 5, 1966 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Although Irvin is not the most well liked player in NFL history, there is no denying that he is one of the best. Not only did Irvin have all of the physical tools to be a great wide receiver, but he also had a great will to win. These two things combined made him a great player at the high school, college, and professional levels of football.

Irvin attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was one of the best football players to ever come out of the area. This led to a heavily contested recruiting battle that was eventually won by head coach Jimmy Johnson of the University of Miami. While at Miami, Irvin set several school records including career receptions with 143, touchdown receptions with 26, and receiving yards with 2,423. Irvin helped to lead the Hurricanes to the 1987 National Title.

Nfl 2012

After passing up his final year of college eligibility, Irvin was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys with the 11th pick of the first round in the 1988 NFL Draft. The Cowboys are the only team that he would play for during his 11 year career.

Irvin finished his NFL career with 750 receptions for 11,904 yards. Both of these stats are good enough for the top ten all time. He also had 47 career 100 yard receiving games, and pulled in 65 touchdowns. To go along with these individual statistics Irvin also won two Super Bowl titles with the Cowboys.

Irvin is still quite involved with the game of football, and can be seen every Sunday on television talking about the upcoming NFL games. Irvin had a great college and NFL career, and will always be remembered as one of the top wide receivers to ever play the game.

16 Most Inspiring Famous Failures

To succeed in business or life, I came to realize that we must continually take remedial actions. Putting myself on the line day after day can be extremely draining, especially when things do not work out as I desired. Hence, each time I face a disappointing event or undesirable outcome, I NEVER FORGET these famous failures:

1. Bill Gates, founder and chairman of Microsoft, has literally changed the work culture of the world in the 21st century, by simplifying the way computer is being used. He happens to be the world's richest man for the last one decade. However, in the 70's before starting out, he was a Harvard University dropout. The most ironic part is that, he started a software company (that was soon to become Microsoft) by purchasing the software technology from "someone" for only $US50 back then.

Nfl 2012

2. Abraham Lincoln, received no more than 5 years of formal education throughout his lifetime. When he grew up, he joined politics and had 12 major failures before he was elected the 16th President of the United States of America.

3. Isaac Newton was the greatest English mathematician of his generation. His work on optics and gravitation made him one of the greatest scientists the world has even known. Many thought that Isaac was born a genius, but he wasn't! When he was young, he did very poorly in grade school, so poor that his teachers became clueless in improving his grades.

4. Ludwig van Beethoven, a German composer of classical music, is widely regarded as one of history's supreme composers. His reputation has inspired - and in many cases intimidated - composers, musicians, and audiences who were to come after him. Before the start of his career, Beethoven's music teacher once said of him "as a composer, he is hopeless". And during his career, he lost his hearing yet he managed to produce great music - a deaf man composing music, ironic isn't!

5. Thomas Edison who developed many devices which greatly influenced life in the 20th century. Edison is considered one of the most prolific inventors in history, holding 1,093 U.S patents to his name. When he was a boy his teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything. When he set out on his own, he tried more than 9,000 experiments before he created the first successful light bulb.

6. The Woolworth Company was a retail company that was one of the original five-and-ten-cent stores. The first Woolworth's store was founded in 1878 by Frank Winfield Woolworth and soon grew to become one of the largest retail chains in the world in the 20th century. Before starting his own business, Woolworth got a job in a dry goods store when he was 21. But his employer would not let him serve any customer because he concluded that Frank "didn't have enough common sense to serve the customers".

7. By acclamation, Michael Jordon is the greatest basketball player of all time. A phenomenal athlete with a unique combination of grace, speed, power, artistry, improvisational ability and an unquenchable competitive desire. Jordan single-handedly redefined the NBA superstar. Before joining NBA, Jordan was just an ordinary person, so ordinary that was cut from high school basketball team because of his "lack of skill".

8. Walter Disney was American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, and animator. One of the most well-known motion picture producers in the world, Disney founded a production company. The corporation, now known as The Walt Disney company, makes average revenue of US billion annually. Disney started his own business from his home garage and his very first cartoon production went bankrupt. During his first press conference, a newspaper editor ridiculed Walt Disney because he had no good ideas in film production.

9. Winston Churchill failed the 6th grade. However, that never stopped him to work harder! He strived and eventually became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the Second World War. Churchill is generally regarded as one of the most important leaders in Britain and world history. In a poll conducted by the BBC in 2002 to identify the "100 Greatest Britons", participants voted Churchill as the most important of all.

10. Steven Spielberg is an American film director. He has won 3 Academy Awards an ranks among the most successful filmmakers in history. Most of all, Steven was recognized as the financially most successful motion picture director of all time. During his childhood, Spielberg dropped out of junior high school. He was persuaded to come back and was placed in a learning-disabled class. He only lasted a month and then dropped out of school forever.

11. Albert Einstein was a theoretical physicist widely regarded as the most important scientist of the 20th century. He was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics for his explanation of the photoelectric effect in 1905 and "for his services to Theoretical Physics". However, when Einstein was young, his parents thought he was mentally retarded. His grades in school were so poor that a teacher asked him to quit, saying, "Einstein, you will never amount to anything!"

12. In 1947, one year into her contract, Marilyn Monroe was dropped by 20th Century-Fox because her producer thought she was unattractive and cannot act. That didn't deter her at all! She kept on going and eventually she was recognized by the public as the 20th century's most famous movie star, sex symbol and pop icon.

13. John Grisham's first novel was rejected by sixteen agents and twelve publishing houses. He went on writing and writing until he became best known as a novelist and author for his works of modern legal drama. The media has coined him as one of the best novel authors even alive in the 21st century.

14. Henry Ford's first two automobile companies failed. That did not stop him from incorporating Ford Motor Company and being the first to apply assembly line manufacturing to the production of affordable automobiles in the world. He not only revolutionized industrial production in the United States and Europe, but also had such influence over the 20th century economy and society. His combination of mass production, high wages and low prices to consumers has initiated a management school known as "Fordism". He became one of the three most famous and richest men in the world during his time.

15. Soichiro Honda was turned down by Toyota Motor Corporation during a job interview as "engineer" after World War Two. He continued to be jobless until his neighbors starting buying his "home-made scooters". Subsequently, he set out on his own to start his own company. Honda. Today, the Company has grown to become the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer and one of the most profitable automakers - beating giant automaker such as GM and Chrysler. With a global network of 437 subsidiaries, Honda develops, manufactures, and markets a wide variety of products ranging from small general-purpose engines and scooters to specialty sports cars.

16. Akio Morita, founder of giant electric household products, Sony Corporation, first product was an electric rice cooker, only sold 100 cookers (because it burned rice rather than cooking). Today, Sony is generating US billion in revenue and ranked as the world's 6th largest electronic and electrical company.

Tim Tebow - Girlfriend Mystery Revealed

Tim Tebow is the talk of the town at the University of Florida these days. So lets dig down into the Tim Tebow Girlfriend issue and clear the air once and for all. Does Tim have a girlfriend? And if so, does he have just one, two or three or more? These are the questions everyone continues to ask about this Heisman Quarterback Trophie Winner that has been able to maintain a 3.7 GPA the entire time while in college.

In the course of the last year, various Tim Tebow Girlfriend pics have been popping up all over the place. Or are these his girlfriends? Our research indicates that Tim is not really officially dating anyone at this time. But as a star trying to maintain a good overall PR image for himself, he's happy to take pictures with some of the women on campus just so they can sport a trophy and have something to brag about to their friends in school.

Nfl 2012

Literally hundreds of young ladies currently studying at the University of Florida are hot about Tim no doubt. Our research also indicates that hundreds of these same women are groupie women who are playing the same role trying to land a star as their very own. We think in the future we'll see more Tim Tebow Girlfriend photos over the next couple years, since he always seems to be happy to take a picture with any nice girl who asks.

After Tim goes pro and Graduates from the University of Florida, you might not see any more of Tim Tebow Girlfriend pics floating around except for the old one. He might end up getting married then and start raising a family, but of course that's pure speculation and no one really knows Tim's future, we don't even know our future, lol.

And finally for all we know Tim Tebow may just be the type to take pictures with anyone who asks, yes even the pretty college dorm girlfriend types, to anyone who asks after he turns pro, assuming his wife lets him. But these days it's a women's world so I guess we'll all just have to see what his future wife says about it should he decide to settle down and get married in the future. Some understand it's healthy from a Public Relations perspective to do this, but some women's fangs come out when they see their husband in a picture with other women, even if it's a good career move.

Sweaty Armpits - Little Known Way to Cure Your Armpit Sweat Problem

Struggling with sweaty armpits is a common problem. I am not talking about getting sweaty when you are running or working out, but the excessive armpit sweating that occur when it seems unnatural to sweat. This type of problems with sweating is also known as hyperhidrosis.

The sweating problem can often be difficult for those who got it. I have personally experienced several years struggling with sweaty armpits. I would guess it started when I was in my puberty age. The embarrassment related to the growing sweat stains under my armpits, followed by the smell, resulted in me trying to avoid social events and I was always avoiding talking to or getting close to other people. When looking for new jobs I was always considering how this or that job was fitting to my sweating habits. I started to choose work arrangements where as few people as possible was able to smell what was going on under my arms.

Nfl 2012

It was not until I came across the solution to my armpit problem I actually started to date girls. Before that I had always been afraid of how they would react to the sweat issue as well as how I would be able to hide it from her. I believe that a lot of people with sweating problems are relating to what I am saying here. Even though the armpit problems are natural we are all too afraid to admit we have them. It is not like we do not shower. I was probably showering more back then when I had the problem, than I do now when I am over it.

What I discovered when I was trying to get rid of my problems with sweaty armpits was that the products on the market did not do what they promised. I tried several anti-persperants and deodorants but none of them solved my problem. I even visited the drugstore and tried some of their more medical anti-persperants but even those did not help me.

Still, in a cloud of desperation, I finally found a solution to my problem. This might be one of the most valuable and appreciated moments in my entire life. The burden is now of my shoulders (and the armpits as well) and I am finally past my period of sweaty armpits.

How to Cook Lima Beans (aka Butter Beans)

There wasn't a Thanksgiving in my home, when I a was a girl, that didn't include lima beans. For that matter, lima beans were a side dish at practically every Sunday-with-the-kinfolks meal. Only, we usually called them butter beans.

Lima beans are popular in the southern part of the United States, perhaps less so in other regions, but good anywhere and any time, in my biased opinion. The trick is to cook them right.

Super Bowl 2012

Oddly enough, cooking lima beans the right way does not mean cooking them the way I remember most of my southern kin did it, and even the way the restaurants we frequented did. They all seemed to think you had to cook them into mush, as well as oversalt them. If that's how you are used to eating lima beans, and you enjoy them that way, then don't let me stop you. But be aware that the recipes I give below are calibrated to produce limas that are about halfway between "hard" and "mush" on the cooked beans scale.

One fact I recently learned is that lima beans are more southern than even I had suspected: They were being grown and eaten in South America thousands of years ago.

Fresh lima beans are the best, although they require more work to prepare, including shelling them. You're most likely to find fresh limas at a farmer's market, especially in the South.

Alternately, feel free to use the dried or frozen ones that your supermarket carries. You can probably find both large and small ("baby") sizes; my preference is for the small ones as they seem to be more resistant to turning mushy as you cook them, but either will work fine.

If you start with dried lima beans, you should soak them for at least five hours and preferably overnight before cooking. Keep in mind that dried limas will swell from soaking and cooking, at least doubling in volume. So, a cupful of dried limas will cook up to 2 cups or a little more.

Lima Beans, Southern Style

If you go to a down-home style restaurant or cafeteria in the South and order lima beans, the odds are 10 to 1 that this is how they'll come out to the table. We're talking authenticity here!

Ingredients

1 lb. lima beans, large or small (dried limas commonly come in 1-lb. packages)

1 chopped onion

1 or 2 ham hocks

1 large clove of garlic

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper

1 tablespoon cooking oil

Directions

1. Soak lima beans overnight (if using dried beans)

2. Rinse beans in a colander under cold running water.

3. Dump beans into a large pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes.

4. Remove beans from heat, cover and let stand until fairly well cooled--at least 30 to 45 minutes. Then, drain the beans and set them aside.

5. In the pot, saute ham hocks, onion and garlic in cooking oil until the onion turns clear. Put in the beans and cover it all with water. Add salt and black pepper.

6. Bring pot to a boil. Cover the pot, reduce the heat and simmer for 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add water as necessary to keep the beans covered.

7. After a half-hour of simmering, begin checking on beans to see how well cooked they are. You might want to stop the cooking early, depending on how tender they are--and whether or not you like your lima beans mushy!

Succotash

This is the other main way to enjoy lima beans, at least where I grew up. Succotash basically just means lima beans and corn. The onions and tomatoes give it extra interest.

Ingredients

3 cups lima beans

3/4 cup onions, diced

2 tablespoons butter or margarine

3 cups kernel corn, already cooked (according to package directions)

2 cups peeled and diced tomatoes

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

1. Put lima beans in large pan or pot. Cover with water and boil 4 to 6 minutes, or until beans are tender. Drain.

2. Melt butter or margarine in a small skillet over medium heat, then pour into the pot you will be cooking the beans in.

3. Add beans, onion, corn and tomatoes to the pot. Saute for 4 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently.

4. Remove from heat, mix in the salt and pepper, and serve.

All Eyes on the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is, by far, the U.S. television program, which has the most American viewers. Based on the Nielsen Media Research, on the average, the Super Bowl has 40 percent of all the houses in the States and 60 percent of all the households are tuned into the Super Bowl when there is a game. This would mean that on the average and at any given moment, approximately 80 to 90 million American viewers tune into the Super Bowl. Also, it was estimated that around 130 to 140 million American watch some part of the game.

Some press releases given by the NFL have actually stated that the most recent games of the Super Bowl have been made available to a billion potential audiences worldwide. However, there have been a couple of independent studies that have been done which have suggested that the total number of international viewers on the average is a little over 100 million - and a majority of this number are American viewers.

Super Bowl 2012

And because of this great fame of the Super Bowl, you may be astonished to learn that there are completely no videotapes of the first two Super Bowl telecasts. It is particularly surprising for the Super Bowl I, since it has been covered by CBS and NBC, which are two of the biggest television networks. Sports Illustrated has stated that the only first telecast footage that existed was the first game's two-minute video clip. This is because during the earlier days of the television and sometime in the 1960s, the copies of the TV broadcasts were erased routinely, as nobody ever thought that there would be anyone who would want to replay a show that they have already seen. Also, during those days, videotapes were significantly expensive.

Jello jigglers are made by only adding half the amount of water to your jello powder. This makes a firm, non-sticky type of jello, which you can cut into squares or rectangles.

Another option is jello cookies and you can use jello gelatin as one of your ingredients. This gives the cookies a fruity taste and a really nice texture. Super Bowl 2012

If you have been a satellite TV subscriber for the longest time, you would be glad that there are no monthly costs involved at all. The only cost ever is the one time payment for the software which works out to less than for most software versions and brands. When new programs are added, you also need not top up or pay anything extra. These are all included in the software package.

Since the software is receiving free to air TV feeds from FTA TV stations, the TV channels you can watch on computer are entirely free. A quick comparison between satellite and cable TV versus PC satellite TV would reveal that you are catching maybe 700 channels at max with the monthly services but getting access to over 2000 TV channels with the software. Looking at the software side by side with monthly TV services, it outshines services in terms of affordability, the number of TV channels available and the userability. This probably is the reason why more TV viewers, especially the younger folks now watch TV in this way. How to Get an FFL License

What is a FFL License?

FFL License is the abbreviation for a Federal Firearms License which is a U.S. Government issued firearm license required of individuals or companies engaged in the business of selling firearms.

Nfl 2012

FFL holders also provide the service of "transferring" firearms to individuals who may have bought the firearm elsewhere and had it shipped to their local FFL holder for transfer to them.

Learn how to get an FFL License - FFL license requirements and FFL application process.

So you need to learn how to get an FFL license in order to become a registered gun dealer or to collect antique type firearms. This article explains in detail how to get an FFL license and the FFL license application process and your requirements as an FFL license applicant.

Is it legal to buy firearms over the Internet or by mail order?

Yes! However, all modern firearms must by law be transferred from a FFL holder dealer with a Federal Firearms License at their business location to the actual buyer. That is why they only ship firearms to a FFL holder for subsequent transfer to our customers, instead of straight to the customer.

Why is a signed FFL License copy required before an Internet or mail order purchase can be shipped?

Possession of the FFL license copy bearing an original ink signature is the legal requirement to ensure that the destination of the firearm is the same as the shipping address on the license.

This helps to prevent fraud and the unlawful delivery of firearms to underage or prohibitive persons. All federal firearm license holders must be current and the FFL license dealer will check each against the BATF's on-line database of current and valid Federal firearms license holders, keeping criminals from obtaining firearms is the first priority.

Where do I find a Federal Firearms License Holder to do the transfer for my purchase?

Most of your local gun & pawn shops have a FFL license and will perform the transfer for a small fee. Also, any individual holding a FFL licensee can do the transfer for you. Doing transfers is an easy way for your local FFL holders to generate cash flow without carrying inventory. You can also locate FFL transfer Dealers in your area by logging onto several Internet resources.

Is a FFL licence copy required to purchase and ship optics and accessories?

No. Only modern firearms are required to be shipped to a FFL holder. All other items can be shipped direct to the purchaser.

Can I provide background check information over the phone before I pick up my firearm?

No. By law, the required paperwork (ATF yellow sheet) is to be filled out in the presence of a licensed FFL holder. The background check will be initiated with the FBI NICS at the time the yellow sheet is filled out.

What if I get a NICS delay response during the background check?

Delay responses are out of the control of the FFL licensee, and no explanation for the response is given by FBI NICS as to the reason for the delay. Delay responses provide the FBI NICS the following 3 full business weekdays for review of the background check. Generally most of the delay responses have been given a final disposition within 24 hrs.

What if I get a denied response?

Denied responses are out of the control of the FFL license holder, and no explanation for the response is given by FBI NICS as to the reason for the denial. You do have the right to request in writing the reason for the denial. The ff license holder should have the denied response inquiry forms available.

How old do I have to be to purchase a firearm?

In Texas, the legal age is 18 yrs. for long gun purchases and 21 yrs. Usually between 18 and 21, check locally for the correct age. For handgun purchases. Each state may have different age and eligibility requirements for firearms purchases. It is the BUYER's responsibility to know their local and state laws.
Check with your local FFL holder before making a purchase.

How to Get an FFL License

We have helped many FFL applications get approved first time with the FFL kit. www.fflfirearmslicense.com has many resources and answers to questions related to how to get an FFL license the first time you try.

How Do You Know When It's Time To Get Married?

You've done everything it takes to get your own game together, and you've been a man or woman who deserves what you want for sometime now. In fact, you've found a partner as terrific as you are, and the question has inevitably surfaced: Is it time to "pop the question" around here?

I believe a lot of us really have not spent enough time ruminating upon what it really takes to consider a decision to make marriage plans. And make no mistake, my friends, this is the kind of thought that should go on long before you are ever in the position to actually act upon what you think and / or feel.

Nfl 2012

Indeed, getting engaged should never be a "knee-jerk" decision. In fact, nothing involving "jerks" of any kind should ever be a consideration.

So whether you are in a serious relationship right now or not, let's consider the top ten signs to look for when considering marriage:

1) You are attracted to each other

First, you absolutely, positively must be sexually attracted to the object of your affection. This is NOT being shallow, as we've discussed previously. Don't you appreciate how I freely endorse making this a priority? Thought so. Feel better now? LOL

2) You actually like each other

Laugh if you will, but I've seen first-hand how couples justify long-term relationships despite getting on each other's nerves big time. I personally don't get it, and if you deserve what you want I surely hope you don't want that.

3) You've spent enough time together to really know each other

Let's not talk in terms of calendar time here. If a couple is in a long-distance-relationship (LDR) for two years and see each other once a month for two days, they may see each other about as much as a couple who lives two blocks apart and has been joined at the hip since they met a month ago. When you know that you've seen the person at his or her most relaxed (and at his or her worst, for that matter), then and only then are you in a position to speculate regarding what the future really holds.

4) You are on the same page spiritually

Don't underestimate the importance of this. If you believe that God should be at the center of your relationship, it can only be that way if your would-be partner agrees. If this hasn't been talked about yet, make it a priority to do so. Even if you are both agnostic or atheist, for that matter, it's still a good idea to discuss your world views and make sure you are in agreement on what your core beliefs are.

5) Your long-term goals are similar

If your futures are taking you in different directions, either someone is going to have to compromise, or your futures don't have each other in them. Period.

6) You know how to play together

Sure, she goes shoe shopping while he watches the NFL. But do you know how to enjoy leisure time together? We're not just talking about sex here? I always thought it would be amazing to find a woman who would want to go BMX racing with me. As it turns out, that wasn't so farfetched. Couples who play together stay together.

7) You both want to be married

Do both of you really desire marriage? If you feel you are trying to persuade someone out of the single life who still wants to be there then guess what...you are not making valuable use of your time.

8) The basics in your lives are handled

Are you mentally and physically healthy? Is your self-esteem in good shape? If you carry heavy concerns that consume you, it's not time to invite someone else into your world permanently. After all, that would only give your heavy concerns someone else to consume. And that's not part of a balanced relationship.

9) You have no doubt in your mind that your partner is committed to you as you are to him/her

Ah yes...the "trust" factor. Kill all jealousy in order to ready yourself for a committed relationship. And make darn skippy sure that's okay to do. If there are signs your future husband or wife would cheat on you, then forgettaboutit. Really.

10) You have no doubt in your mind that you are committed to your partner as he/she is to you

Turnabout is fair play here. Are you completely sure you are trustworthy? Do you harbor fantasies about cheating on your future spouse? If you are focusing too much on someone else--especially if that "someone else" is potentially available to you, then my suggestion is to get that resolved before feigning "commitment" to someone who would be truly committed to you.

Whether you feel you are ready for marriage or not is okay. One should never feel pressured either way. The framework for a solid marriage with a great long-term prognosis can only be established when both partners truly want to be there...and believe wholeheartedly in both the future and in each other.

After all, isn't that what love is for?

How to Lose 10 Pounds in a Week - 8 Proven Tips That Helped Me to Lose 10 Pounds in One Week

I desperately needed to lose weight for my wedding. I have lost 13 pounds on the first week, and 10 pounds on the second. This is quite a short time for losing weight, and not very healthy, I know. However, this quick weight loss success was a kick-start for my weight loss journey, and it motivated me to keep losing weight, following natural and healthy methods later. I am going to share every single step I followed on the second week, that helped me to lose 10 pounds in 7 days.

Please keep in mind that extremely fast weight loss is never healthy.

Nfl 2012

Here are the steps I followed after the first 7 days, to lose 10 pounds in a week:

1) First, I had a day of detox - to cleanse my body and lose weight even faster. I prepared a drink of lemon juice, ginger and honey mixed with water, and drank this detox drink during the day. Whenever hungry, I just drank it. I felt good, as I normally do, no cramps, no lack of energy, nothing. This was not hard at all, and I am sure it boosted my weight loss results. I know some people do the whole week of detox, but this is not for me.

2) I limited the amounts of foods, because I really needed to lose weight so fast. I had plenty of vegetables, lean meat, fish, eggs, and some fruits (mostly apples and oranges). My new rule of eating was this: half of the plate should be veggies (just tried to avoid too much potato), ¼ of the plate - white meat or fish, and the rest can be fruit (no bananas because they are too sweet and starchy). I know that eating less is not always an option for a long lasting weight loss. But it surely is an option for fast weight loss, and that`s what my goal was. An easier way to reduce the amount of food is to get a smaller plate. However, eating less was pretty hard, I admit. But I reached my goal, and I am so happy now.

3) I added 2 apples an one can of black beans to my daily diet. I had the beans as my main meal, or split them into 2 smaller meals and had with veggies on the side. This is a trick that no diets tell. And it works wonders, because 35 grams of fiber in a daily diet truly supercharges weight loss. These fibers clean the digestive tract and improve digestion.

4) I started to eat breakfast and stopped eating at night. 7 PM was the latest time of the day when I had my dinner. Breakfast boosted my metabolism and helped me to burn calories faster, although I never believed it could be so important for weight loss. It kept me energized as well. I got at least 10 glasses of water during the day, and I still do - water cleanses the body, increases metabolic rate, and does not let you feel hungry.

5) I distributed my usual calorie intake during the day. I started to eat 5 times a day, having smaller meals. This way I never had to go hungry.

6) I limited fat, sweet and not so healthy food, and whenever I felt like I need to eat something unhealthy, I moved those meals to the first part of the day. Because metabolism is higher in the morning compared to the evening, and this let me eat a donut or ice cream once every few days.

7) Instead of drinking juice, I had a fresh fruit every time. Juice is too sweet for weight loss, if you`re thirsty, get some water or unsweetened green tea.

8) I kept myself motivated and busy all the time. I know that when you`re busy, you have no time to go to the kitchen. This works wonders.

This plan might sound too simple to lose 10 pounds in a week - but follow this plan religiously, and you will see real results.

Have you ever noticed the upper and lower leg development of elite soccer players, sprinters or NFL running backs? If not, you should because all of these athletes have extraordinary leg development. If you're like most beginning bodybuilders, you spend most of your time checking and working on the "t-shirt" muscles of your upper body. But ignoring your legs as part of your bodybuilding program is like a tree trying to grow without roots. A balanced physique requires powerfully built legs to complement your arm, chest and shoulder development.

For powerlifters, heavy squats are the beginning and end of virtually all of their leg training efforts. And if all you want is to be able to squat 500 pounds, you should stop reading right now because this article won't show you how to do that. But if you want to develop strength, size, shape and flexibility in your legs, keep reading because I've got some useful suggestions for you.

Nfl 2012

First, forget about spending all of your time doing nothing but squats, squats and more squats to build up your legs. While barbell squats are a good primer to start building strength in your quadriceps or "quads," leg training limited to heavy squats won't provide balanced development of this area. Additionally, you must always be mindful of your ultimate weight-training goal. If you ultimately want a bodybuilding or athletic type physique, you shouldn't spend too much time training like a powerlifter. While heavy squats can provide an overall anabolic effect, a leg-training plan limited to this exercise usually produces a blocky or shapeless lower body.

As I've said repeatedly, there's nothing wrong with training like a powerlifter if powerlifting is your ultimate goal. But if you're prime objective is to simultaneously build power, size and shape in your legs, you need bodybuilding techniques to reach this goal.

These training techniques include hack squats and front squats for the lower quads, dumbbell squats for the mid-thigh area and machine leg extensions for overall shape and flexibility. You can perform each of these exercises with weight sufficient to force muscle growth and produce gains in overall quad strength. For variety and examples of bodyweight leg training for your quads, try box jumps, hill walking with a weighted backpack or high intensity stationary cycling. Always make sure that you stretch your quads before and after training them to decrease the likelihood of a cramp or injury.

When it comes to adding strength, size and shape to your hamstrings, what can heavy squats do for you? Well, in a word, nothing! To develop your hamstrings or thigh biceps you need exercises targeted specifically to build and strengthen this area. Chief among these exercises are machine leg curls (seated or standing), stiff-legged deadlift and, when done with light weight, good-mornings. Your thigh biceps are relatively small muscles so be careful about using heavy weight with these exercises. As with your quad training, make sure that you stretch before and after working your thigh biceps to reduce the chance of cramping or muscle soreness.

On your lower legs, the calf is the most visible muscle area. Whether your calf is high or low, consistent training of this area can produce excellent results. To get started try some standing calf raises with both leg simultaneously using a machine or wood block with free weights. If you're using a barbell, you can do this exercise with the barbell resting comfortably on your shoulders as you contract and extend your calves on wood block or platform. If you're more comfortable with dumbbells, simply hold a dumbbell in each hand with your arms naturally extended at your sides as you raise and lower your body on the block or platform.

In addition to standing calf raises, you should balance out your calf workouts with seated calf raises, donkey machine calf raises and single leg calf raises with a dumbbell. As with your quad training, you can perform each of these exercises with weight sufficient to add size and strength to your calves. However, in my experience, your calves will experience the most growth and display the best shape from high rep work with moderate amounts of weight.

So, the next time you go to the gym, instead of eye-balling your GUNS or pumping your pecs, try paying some attention to your legs. Your quads, hamstrings and calves will return the favor by making you look great in a pair of shorts!

Vince Lombardi's Nine Principles of Success

Vince Lombardi's Nine Principles of Success:

"The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have." Vince Lombardi

Super Bowl 2012

1. Commitment- "The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor." Vince Lombardi. Lombardi goes on to state, "A winner must be committed to discipline, committed to sacrifice and self-denial, and committed to hard work."

How committed are you? If you are an athlete, are you the first one at practice, and the last one to leave? If you are part of an organization - are you making sure that you efforts are helping the entire organization? Are you willing to jump in and help others even when "it is not my job." As an educator, do you take the time to visit with other teachers in your field - learning ways to make yourself more valuable in the classroom? Are you willing to WIT? Whatever it Takes to be successful?

2. Truth- "In football and business, a leader must be honest with himself and the people he is working with. Faithfulness and truth are the most sacred excellences and endowments of the human mind." Vince Lombardi

Are you being honest with your greatest fan and your strongest critic - yourself? Are you doing the things on a daily basis that will allow you to do more, be more, have more? Or, are you being dishonest to yourself and those who count on you on a daily basis? With today business ethics or lack of ethics, people are looking to be able to deal with reliable, trustworthy individuals and organizations.

3. Excellence- "If you demand perfection of yourself, you'll seldom achieve it. Fear of making a mistake is the biggest cause of making one. Instead of pushing for perfection, relax and pursue excellence." Bud Winter

Lombardi stated, "No one is perfect. But boys, if you'll not settle for anything less than the best, you'll be amazed at what you can do with your lives. You'll be amazed at how much you can rise in this world."

Perfection rarely happens...it is the perfect game thrown by a baseball pitcher, but requires the help and support of his teammates. It is a 300 game in bowling, rarely reached by anyone but the best bowlers. It is the hole in one in golf...a feat rarely accomplished. However the pursuit of excellence should be a goal we all seek.

4. Results- "Winning is not everything, but making the effort to win is." Vince Lombardi

Hall of Fame basketball player, Bill Walton, stated this about winning- "Winning is about having the whole team on the same page."

In team sports, there is usually one team that wins, and one team that loses. The team that plays together can often overcome a lack of talent to be successful. A team with lack of character may win games, but will not be successful in the long run, and success will be short lived.

We always set goals for our teams, and winning were not a major goal. We felt if we could reach the majority of the goals set for every opponent, the winning would take care of itself. We wanted results. We wanted improvement each and every time out. What is it that you expect for yourself and your organization?

"There is no limit when no one cares who gets the credit." John Wooden

5. Passion- "I learned that if you want to make it bad enough, no matter how bad it is, you can make it." Gayle Sayers

Are you passionate about what you do? Do you have the first one to the office, practice field, classroom mentality, or are you dragging in as things are starting? Do you believe in what you are doing, in your teammates and/or co-workers, do you have it in your heart, your mind, and in your soul - and are willing to take no excuses from yourself and your teammates? Does that fire burn deep within you?

"There is only one way to succeed in anything, and that is to give it everything. I do, and I demand that my players do." Vince Lombardi

6. Habit- "The difference between a successful person and others in not a lack of strength, nor a lack of knowledge, but rather the lack of will." Vince Lombardi

It has been said that doing the same thing today as you did yesterday and expect different results is a definition of insanity. Habit is an act that we repeatedly do. It can be good or it can be bad. Psychologists estimate that 90% of the things we do is habitual. Think about it, starting with your morning routine, and ending to when you retire at night. There are hundreds of things you do the same way every day, often without thinking about them.

Robert Ringer, author of Million Dollar Habits states-"Success is am matter of understanding and religiously practicing specific simple habits that always lead to success.

7. Mental Toughness- "If you're lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head, and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second." Vince Lombardi

You often hear coaches tell their players, "We have to be mentally tough." Just what is mental toughness? It is one of those words that are difficult to explain. I think my definition of mental toughness is- proper mental and physical preparation that enables you to forget the price- the sacrifices that you must pay for success. It is the thing that allows us to climb off the mat one more time after we have been knocked down. It gives us the ability to strive on inspire of the hurt and the pain that we may be experiencing. It is what allows us to rebound from temporary failures that life sends our way.

When I was coaching, we were down 92-75 with five minutes left in the game. I called a timeout and asked my players how much gas they had left in the tank. I knew the other team was tired. I needed them to tell me that they could reach down inside - give it their all for the remainder of the game. We began to press. Our frame of mind is we were not going to lose. The gap closed, slowly at first, and then like someone had opened the flood gates, we were magically back in the game. With :08 seconds left in the game we hit a three to send it to overtime. Our opponent was spent......but mentally we were ready for the challenge. We wound up winning the game 119-111 in overtime.

8. Discipline- "Some people regard discipline as a chore. For me, it is a kind of order that sets me free to fly." Julie Andrews

Normally when we hear the word discipline we associate it with punishment. According to Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, discipline can be defined as: to train or develop by instruction or exercise- especially in self-control; to bring a group under control. George Washington stated, "Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable, procures success to the weak, and esteem to all."

For most of my coaching career, I did not saddle my team with rules. Our basic rule was to be where you are supposed to be, doing what you are supposed to be doing, when you are supposed to be doing it - and doing it to the best of your ability. By following that simple set of rules, my players graduated, for the most part grew into the individuals I can be very proud of today.

9. Perseverance- "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." Calvin Coolidge

Persistence and perseverance may be the single most common quality of successful people. They refuse to lose, to give up. They know the longer they hang in there, the greater the chance for success. Thomas Edison failed to invent the light bulb over 1000 times. When asked by a reported how it felt to fail so many times, Edison responded he didn't fail, he discovered ways not to invent the light bulb.

H. Ross Perot, Texas billionaire and former presidential candidate says this about perseverance- "Most people give up just when they're about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touchdown."

There are going to be times when it isn't easy. People will doubt your ability, your effort, or your value to the organization. They may not believe in your dream, or have the same passion you do. They may think you are over your head or over the hill. What if Kurt Warner had believed all of the things people were saying about him before the Arizona Cardinals run toward the Super Bowl?

I have been fortunate to know some people who have overcome tremendous odds to reach their goals. Kevin Saunders, bronze medal winner in the Para-Olympics (Barcelona, Spain) wrote a book about his journey title appropriately enough, "There's Always a Way...Never Give Up!

I leave you with this thought- "The power to hold on in spite of everything, the power to endure-this is the winners quality. Persistence is the ability to face defeat again and again without giving up-to push on in the face of great difficulty, knowing that victory will be yours. Persistence means taking pains to overcome every obstacle, and to do what's necessary to reach your goal." Anon.

Football - Why So Popular?

Another Football season is about to descend upon us. The time of the year that football fans across the nation live for. In millions of homes, fans will grab their NFL teams jersey and cap and favorite brew and plop down on the sofa with friends for another exciting afternoon of Sunday football. Or for those who can actually afford the ticket prices, it's another season of tailgating parties, hanging out with 60,000 other screaming fans cheering on the hometown team, and Monday morning hangovers. Of course there are some who could care less about all this 'who struck John' football stuff and wonder what the big deal is? I've known a few women in my time who actually detest football because they know for the next sixteen Sundays they'll be hard pressed to get the husband to do anything on Sunday afternoons. How is it that football has become such a fixture in American culture?

Growing up in Baltimore in the 60's, I was an avid fan of the Baltimore Colts. They played football in an old horseshoe shaped place that they called Memorial Stadium. They had great teams during those years and won a couple of championships. A few years earlier they played in what many people call the 'Greatest Game' in the 1958 Championship game against the New York Giants. For me, I think it's rather silly to call any one game the greatest because there's been so many great games through the years. What that game did accomplish was capture the attention of thousands of people across the nation, and pushed the NFL to the next level.

Super Bowl 2012

The football ritual itself reminds me of a gladiator spectacle. People dress up in crazy costumes, sit out in all kinds of weather, act like raving lunatics to watch a bunch of 300 pound beefy boys bang each other around for the next three hours. No one gets killed at the end, but I notice that near the end of the game when the outcome has usually been decided, the camera's will oftentimes pan to the owner's booth, where you'll get a shot of the victorious owner. With a little imagination, it's not difficult picturing the owner giving a thumbs up or down to determine the losers fate.

The game itself reminds one of a movie from the Lifetime Channel. You have the good guys and the bad guys. You have the drama of the ups and downs through the course of the game. You also have the umpteen commercial breaks along the way.(By the way, if you really want to see the game from a different perspective, go to one. The constant stoppage of the game for commercial breaks will seem so out of place at the game. You're sitting there wondering why are they stopping the game now? At home, you're so accustomed to this, and you use this time for running to the bathroom, refrigerator, etc., but at the game you're just sitting there thinking enough already, get on with the game). Anyway, the game winds to it's conclusion, and if it's really a good production, it will come down to the 'two minute drill', where the home team pulls the game out at the very ending. Just like our protagonists in the movie. Usually the good guys win, but not always.

After the game, the people wander home to their homes or neighborhood bars to discuss the day's events. Usually there's a game on Sunday Night Football where they can continue to get their fix of football right on to the early morning hours. The next morning is rough for the die hards, and leads one to recall the statement about hoping that you don't buy a car that was made on Monday, and why. In any event, this goes on for the next sixteen weeks, and if your team is lucky enough to make it to the playoffs, all bets are off.

Yes, the National Football League, or as some would say, the National Felony League has made itself a part of American life and culture. It's a huge business that millions of fans live for, and spend dearly to be a part of. As for me, I can no longer bring myself to sit in front of the boob tube for hours on end on a Sunday. I'd much rather get out and take a walk in the woods instead. Besides, I can no longer endure the Monday Morning payback as opposed to being a Monday Morning quarterback.

Superbowl XLIII

This was one of the most significant upsets in the history of the Super Bowl. The New York Giants, who had a 14-6 winning record, were playing against the New England Patriots who had an 18-1 winning record. Everything pointed to the Patriots winning the game. Well, it's not over till it's over! In a stunning upset, the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots by a score of 17-14. This prevented the Patriots from becoming the first team that was undefeated since the 1972 Miami Dolphins.

The Giants made a bit of history becoming the first wild card team from the NFC to ever win a Super Bowl. This was New York's first title since January 1991 when they played in Super Bowl XXV. Bill Belichick coached the New England Patriots and the tagline for this Super Bowl was "Who Wants It More?" It was quite evident that the New York Giants were hungry for victory.

Super Bowl 2012

The Super Bowl Game was held on February 3, 2008, in Glendale, Arizona at the University of Phoenix Football Stadium. It turned out to be a rematch of the final game in the regular season. The New England Patriots came into Super Bowl XLII as 12-point favorites.

The telecast of Super Bowl XLII was the one that was the most watched of all time. There was an average of 97.5 million viewers in the U.S. alone and 148.3 total viewers that watched at least part of the game. The broadcast of the XLII Super Bowl achieved the highest Nielsen ratings for any game watched since Super Bowl XXXIV. This Super Bowl game was also the second most watched television program of all time here in the U.S.

This was indeed one of the greatest upsets in all of Super Bowl history. The New York Giants derailed the perfect season of the New England Patriots and they also turned around a mediocre regular season.

The New York Giants were 12 point underdogs as they headed into Super Bowl XLII. The New York Giants overcame the highest point spread to put the icing on the cake since the New England Patriots the St. Louis Rams as 14 point underdogs at Super Bowl XXXVI in 2001.

Now we have to set our sights on Super Bowl XLIII which will be held on February 1, 2009, down at Tampa Bay, Florida. You have to check out the latest Super Bowl odds for Super Bowl XLIII in the BetUS.com Sportsbook futures section.

The Mystery Of Polish Sausage - What Is Kielbasa?

Without a doubt the word Kielbasa has worldwide recognition, yet it is also often misunderstood. Kielbasa is the general Polish name for sausage. You cannot walk into a Polish store and say: please give me a pound of kielbasa. The sales lady, surrounded by 50 different kinds of kielbasa, will inevitably reply: yes, but which one? There are well over 100 types of kielbasa, and the word itself is meaningless unless followed up with the proper name: Kielbasa Rzeszowska, Kielbasa Krakowska, Kielbasa Tuchowska, Kielbasa Mysliwska, etc. It is like going into a deli and asking for some cheese. Sure, but which one: American, Provolone, Swiss, Gorgonzola, Gouda, Muenster - you have to provide some details. There is no specific sausage called kielbasa but there are many sausages that carry the word kielbasa as part of the name.

We know of only one sausage that carries the word "Polish" in its name and that is the Polish Smoked Sausage (Polska Kielbasa Wedzona). This is probably what the first immigrants brought with them to America. The problem we face here is that you can find Polish Smoked Sausage in almost every supermarket in the US, and no two are made the same way. Yet Polish Smoked Sausage has been well defined for centuries and everybody in Poland knows what goes inside. We do not intend to become judges in this matter, but instead rely on Polish Government Standards for Polish Smoked Sausage. These rules have remained unchanged for the last 60 years.

Super Bowl 2012

Before we anger many people who have been making Polish Smoked Sausage in their own way for years, let's clarify something further. It's perfectly fine to add an ingredient that you or your children like into your sausage. You still have the full right to say that you made a better sausage than the famous Polish Smoked Sausage. You may say that your grandfather who came from Poland made the best Polish sausage in the world and we honor that. Maybe he used chicken stock instead of water or maybe he added something else. What we are trying to say is that he was making his own version of the known classic or some other Polish sausage and it could have tasted better for you and your family. We do not dispute that fact. You can of course add anything you like to your sausage, but it will no longer be the original Polish Smoked Sausage (Polska Kielbasa Wedzona) or any other brand named sausage. Once you start changing ingredients, you create your own recipe and you may as well come up with your own name.

1. For centuries Polish Smoked Sausage was made of pork, salt, pepper, garlic and marjoram (optional). Then in 1964 the Polish Government introduced a second version of the sausage that was made of 80% pork and 20% beef. All other ingredients: salt, pepper, sugar, garlic, and marjoram remain the same in both recipes. The marjoram is optional but the garlic is a must.

2. The meat is cured before it is mixed with spices. In the US Cure #1 (sodium nitrite plus salt) is used, in Europe Peklosol (sodium nitrite plus salt) is common.

3. The sausage is stuffed into a large hog casing: 36 - 38 mm and formed into 12" (35 cm) links.

4. The traditional way was to cold smoke it for 1 to 1.5 days (it had to last for long time).

5. In most cases it is hot smoked today

A little test was performed to see how large American manufacturers make Polish Sausage. Four sausages called Polish Kielbasa or Polish Sausage were bought at the local supermarket in Florida and each of them was produced by a large and well known meat plant. The number of ingredients and chemicals used varied from 10 to 20 and different combinations of meats were used: pork-beef-turkey, beef only, pork-beef. Except the name, none of the sausages had anything to do with the original.

It seems that for the manufacturers any sausage that is smoked (or have liquid smoke added) and stuffed into a 36 mm one foot long casing can be called Polish Smoked Sausage or Polish Kielbasa. It becomes quite clear that manufacturers put any ingredients they like inside of the casing and the name Polish Kielbasa is used just for credibility and to gain the trust of the consumer.

The problem is futher magnified by various sites on the Internet that provide countless recipes for making Polish sausages. Yet the mysterious Polish Smoked Sausage is embarrassingly simple to make and all it needs is pork, salt, pepper and garlic.

The Mystery Of Polish Sausage - What Is Kielbasa?

Adam Marianski has co-authored two books on meat smoking and making sausages. He runs the web site Wedliny Domowe where you can find more about making quality meats at home.
