Quality Sports Games Created By EA Sports

EA Sports, is the brand name of Electronic Arts, which creates and develops sports games. Over time they have released games like, NBA Live, FIFA, NHL, Madden NFL and Nascar. Many of the games are distinguished by the year in which they come out (IE: Madden 09, NHL 11 and so on!) EA Sports, also determined to make the gameplay as realistic as possible, uses real athletes names and likeness, as well as adding feature's to the game that already exist in the live sport. By doing so, EA Sports games could be very addicting, with the ability to immerse you totally into the game.

Madden 12 and NHL 12 are the next two sports games ready for market with release dates of 8/30/11 and 9/13/11, respectively. EA Sports has added a new dimension to each game, bringing live action from the game, into the game. Examples of this are as follows: Madden 12 has added Real Time Physics and Customizable Playbooks. The Real Time Physics will provide crushing hits, while guaranteeing that no 2 tackles will be the same. The Customizable Playbooks is for the coach in all of us. It will bring a new experience and excitement to the game. NHL 2012 now has Full Contact. This means that everything in the arena is live. You now have the ability to shatter the glass with body checks, knock opposing players into the bench, knock off helmets and so much more. Goalies are live now for the first time. This enables the goalies to make sprawling saves, have the crease crashed by opposing players, knock the net off its moorings and last but not least.....Goalies Can Fight! If this isn't already enough, they added the Winter Classic in Pittsburgh on New Years Day! The game is played outdoors and the weather conditions are able to be changed. You get everything that you could possibly want in these games, except a ticket.

Nfl 2012

EA Sports continues to create quality sports games, that are so realistic, that you feel like your part of the action. Each year they add the necessary elements to keep up with whatever sports game they are creating at that time. With all the sports games being created, I feel that EA Sports is miles ahead of the competition. The level of fun, excitement, competition and the way that they can immerse you into the game is second to none. For a high quality sports gaming experience, EA Sports in my opinion, is at the head of the class.

Oakland Raiders 2010 Strength of Schedule, Futures Odds and Predictions

The Raiders can't possibly get any worse, right? Oakland finished 5-11 last season for its NFL-record seventh consecutive season with at least 11 losses, and the Raiders are 29-83 since losing to Tampa Bay in Super Bowl XXXVII.

But perhaps Oakland will have a little addition by subtraction this season after cutting loose overweight, unmotivated 2007 No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell, who could go down as the biggest draft bust ever. Last season Russell completed only 48.8 percent of his passes and had three touchdowns to go with 11 picks and a 50.0 rating. Oakland pulled the plug following a dismal Week 10 game against the Chiefs, although he did get into a few later games because of injuries to Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye. Overall, Russell earned an obscene million and led the team to a 7-18 record as a starter.

Nfl 2012

The Raiders should have at least some stability at the position this year with former Redskin Jason Campbell, who came over from Washington for a 2012 fourth-round pick. Campbell started 52 games for Washington since being a first-round pick in 2005. He has thrown for 55 touchdowns, 38 interceptions and has a career passer rating of 82.3. That is absolutely an upgrade over Russell. The Raiders were second to last in the NFL in scoring with 197 points last season and gained the second-fewest yards.

Oakland should have a solid defense, as the Raiders love 2010 first-round NFL Draft pick Rolando McClain, a linebacker from Alabama who should be in the Defensive Rookie of the Year running. Oakland also acquired former first-round pick Kamerion Wimbley from the Browns, and he had four sacks in the preseason win over the Bears. Plus Nnamdi Asomugha remains the best cornerback in the league not named Revis.

But these are, of course, the Raiders, and 2008 first-rounder Darren McFadden hasn't been able to get on the field much in camp or the preseason because of a hamstring issue, pretty much handing the No. 1 running back job to Michael Bush. Last year's first-rounder, WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, also has missed time with fatigue (fatigue?). Neither looks like they will live up to where they were picked. And up-and-coming receiver Chaz Schilens may need arthroscopic surgery on his knee that could put his status for opening day in jeopardy. Schilens had 29 catches for 365 yards and two touchdowns last season after missing the first eight games with a broken foot.

At least Oakland has one of the best kicking games in the NFL!

Many oddsmakers have pegged the Raiders as a potential surprise team this year - not playoff-contention surprise but at least able to not lose double-digit games again. Oakland's 'over/under' for NFL season win totals is 6. Let's break down the 2010 Oakland Raiders schedule (all times Eastern):

Week 1: Sunday, Sep. 12, at Tennessee, 1:00 PM
Week 2: Sunday, Sep. 19, St. Louis, 4:05 PM
Week 3: Sunday, Sep. 26, at Arizona, 4:15 PM
Week 4: Sunday, Oct. 3, Houston, 4:05 PM
Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 10, San Diego, 4:15 PM
Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 17, at San Francisco, 4:05 PM
Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 24, at Denver, 4:15 PM
Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 31, Seattle, 4:15 PM
Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 7, Kansas City, 4:15 PM
Week 10: BYE
Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 21, at Pittsburgh, 1:00 PM
Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 28, Miami, 4:05 PM
Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 5, at San Diego, 4:05 PM
Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 12, at Jacksonville, 1:00 PM
Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 19, Denver, 4:15 PM
Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 26, Indianapolis, 4:05 PM
Week 17: Sunday, Jan. 2, at Kansas City, 1:00 PM

This schedule is rated right in the middle (T16) among NFL teams in opponents' 2009 winning percentage of.500 (128-128). There are only four games against playoff teams.

This may not rank as the easiest schedule in the league it certainly looks like one of them when it comes to NFL picks. As bad as the Rams and Cardinals have looked in the preseason, it's realistic to think Oakland could actually have a 2-1 September, probably losing at Tennessee (which is a 6.5-point favorite). And travel shouldn't be a problem for this team as after playing at Tennessee, the Raiders don't cross the country until Week 11 when they play at Pittsburgh.

The Raiders don't play a divisional rival until Week 5 against the Chargers. And they don't play any back-to-back games against AFC West opponents. Is this the year Oakland finally beats San Diego? The Bolts have won 13 in a row in the series, the longest active NFL winning streak by one team over another.

That Oct. 3 game against Houston likely starts three in a row against 2010 playoff teams, but then the Raiders - believe it or not - could go on a three-game winning streak. The NFL handicapping indicates they should actually be home favorites against the Seahawks and Chiefs and have won in Denver the past two years.

Probably the only legitimate road chance Oakland has after the bye comes in what should be the team's lone cold-weather game, in K.C. But the Raiders have won there the past three years.

I love the 'over' 6 here because I don't think there's a chance that the Raiders do worse than a push. But I expect a 7-9 record and maybe even a second-place finish in the AFC West. Better things may finally be ahead for this team.

Freakiest Events In College Football 2011

As the year comes to a close, let's take a look at the freakiest events that occurred related to the game we all love. In no particular order, these are some of the most memorable happenings in football throughout the past year.

The Demise of Ohio State and Jim Tressel

Nfl 2012

The block "O" which stood for so much in the Jim Tressel-led Ohio State program began to crumble as the Buckeyes were preparing for last year's Sugar Bowl. It was reported that several players, including star QB Terrelle Pryor, received improper benefits from a local tattoo parlor owner in December. The players were then suspended, not for the bowl game, but for the first five games of the 2011 season.

Later, it was found that Tressel was aware of the improprieties but did not report them. On May 29th, Tressel resigned amidst pressure from the Ohio State administration. Interim coach Luke Fickell went 6-6, just 3-5 in the Big Ten, and the Buckeyes hired Ohio-native Urban Meyer to lead the program. Meyer was "rewarded" with a 2012 bowl ban thanks to the Sweater Vest.

Jumping Ship: Conference Realignment Continued

With Nebraska in the Big Ten and Colorado and Utah both part of the new PAC-12, 2011 continued the trend of conference shuffles as Texas A&M decided it had enough of the Longhorn Network and Texas and skedaddled to the SEC. A few weeks later Missouri was on the radar as the next team that would make the jump from the Big 12 to the SEC. Pittsburgh and Syracuse, plank owners in the Big East, will become part of the ACC, and TCU, which was scheduled to become a Big East member, peaced out and joined the Big 12. West Virginia has decided to do the same, that is, leave the Big East and join the Big 12 even as a lawsuit threatens the move. San Diego State, Boise State, Houston, SMU, UCF and Navy decided that they would all join the Big East. Get all of that? There will be a test before next season.

Robert Griffin III Wins the Heisman

The most interesting man in college football, and also the freakiest, was awarded the Heisman Trophy in a season to remember for Baylor fans. RG III was always on the grid, but Baylor is hardly a household name in college football. robert griffin iiiThe 6-2, 225-pound junior, who has graduated already, put the Bears on the map quickly. The first Friday night of the college football season saw RGIII lead his Bears to a five touchdown, 50-48 upset of TCU in front of a nationally televised audience. Later he threw for 551 yards and threw a last-minute TD to defeat Oklahoma. He capped off Baylor's 10-3 season this week leading the Bears to a 67-56 win in the Alamo Bowl. Great arm, superb knowledge of the game, incredible speed...the freakiest player in the game!

Freaky High School Performances

Several high school football records were broken this season with some freakish numbers. Jonathan Gray, a senior at Aledo (TX) HS, set a national record for career touchdowns with... 205! That's an average of over 50 per year! Gray also finished second in career points scored with 1,232.

Hillcrest (MO) HS senior WR Dorial Green-Beckham broke the career receiving yards record with 6,356. Maty Mauk, a senior QB at Kenton (OH) HS finished his career by breaking the national records in passing yards, TD passes, completions, attempts, and total yards. Here's a breakdown of his freakish numbers:

Passing yards 18,932
TD passes 219
Completions 1,353
Attempts 2,110
Total yards 22,681

The Year of the Pack

The Green Bay Packers backed into the 2011 playoffs, then went 4-0 in the post-season capped by a Super Bowl victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The winning continued as the Packers won the first 13 games of the new season led by likely NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. It would be the NFL's second-longest winning streak, 19 games, before an upset loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14.

Case Keenum Rewrites Record Books

Granted a sixth year of eligibility, Case Keenum made it count. He led Houston to a magical 11-1 season in which the Cougars led the nation in total offense and scoring. Keenum finishes his career with 18,685 passing yards, 152 touchdowns, and the career leader in completions with 1,501.

Tim Tebow

That's probably all that needs said, but for those who may not be tuned in, Tebow was toiling as a #3 QB with the Broncos as they started this season 1-4. The former Florida star and Heisman Trophy winner was inserted into the lineup as the starter and led Denver to an improbable 7-1 record as the Broncos captured first place in the AFC West. In the process, he has converted many into believing that a spread-type QB with a college-type spread offense can succeed in the NFL.

NFL Lockout

After 136 days the NFL owners and players came to a new labor agreement, one that benefits both sides tremendously, and the season proceeded without interruption. As fans, we knew it would get done. We just didn't know when. Now, we hardly remember it went down.

Freakish NFL Numbers

Entering the final week of the NFL season, Drew Brees has already broken Dan Marino's record for most passing yards in a season. Brees has 5,087 yards and he is not the only one on schedule to surpass 5,000. Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Eli Manning each hit 4,000 yards with three weeks to go. Brady is on pace to hit 5,223. Some freaky numbers and it may continue as all four QBs plus the likes of Philip Rivers and Ben Rothliesberger and others are leading us into another golden age of passing in the NFL.

Taking A Look At The Baltimore Ravens' Ring Of Honor

The Baltimore Ravens began play in 1996 after Art Modell had left Cleveland with his Browns team to find a new home. Due to a settlement reached with the National Football League and the city of Cleveland, the Browns team history, colors, logos, and stats were all left behind. Though the 1996 Baltimore Ravens consisted largely of players that were members of the 1995 Cleveland Browns, as far as the NFL was concerned they were a brand new team. This new team was immediately successful and even won their first Super Bowl in the year 2000.

The Baltimore Ravens had only been playing five seasons when they established their Ring of Honor to give credit to some of the best players from the team and city's past. The first induction came in 2001 and they have been held nearly yearly ever since. Here is a look at men inducted into the Baltimore Ravens' Ring of Honor.

Super Bowl 2012

2001 - Running back Earnest Byner is inducted. Byner played in both Cleveland and Baltimore for Browns and Ravens owner Art Modell.

2002 - After the death of Baltimore Colts legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Johnny Unitas, the Ravens inducted both him and the Baltimore Colts team as a whole into their Ring of Honor. Some of the names specifically honored include those of Unitas, Lenny Moore, Art Donovan, Jim Parker, Raymond Berry, Ted Hendricks, John Mackey, and Gino Marchetti.

2003 - The original owner of the franchise, and the man responsible for getting a football franchise back in Baltimore, Art Modell is inducted into the Ravens Ring of Honor.

2004 - Michael McCrary is inducted. McCrary, a defensive lineman, was one of the first big stars associated with the Ravens team.

2006 - Another of the early defensive stars on the team, linebacker Peter Boulware is inducted into the Ring of Honor.

2008 - The first player ever drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, offensive lineman Jonathan Ogden is inducted. Ogden played in 11 Pro Bowls during his time with the team.

Taking A Look At The Baltimore Ravens' Ring Of Honor

A great deal of interesting info can be learned from checking out Baltimore Ravens trivia wherever it can be found. True fans of the team crave learning everything there is to know about both the franchise itself and the great players that have played for them.

Be the MVP of Your Super Bowl XLI Party

It's that super time of year again! Super Bowl XLI is right around the corner. Millions of people are already planning their menu for the big game. Why do so many people have Super Bowl parties, anyway? Maybe it's because the Super Bowl offers something for everyone...football fans get to watch the biggest game of the year, television fans get to view funny commercials, and food fans get to eat all day. What super reasons to throw a big bash! Make your Super Bowl XLI party the bash of the year with these football party tips. You'll be sure to score a touchdown with your biggest fans.

Invitations: Create a unique Super Bowl ticket invitation. Print the invitations on cardstock cut out to look like event tickets. List pertinent party information as it would appear on a real ticket. Make it fun by listing your home as "Your Name Stadium" and ask guests to decorate themselves in their favorite team's colors.

Super Bowl 2012

Decorations: Create a giant football player by cutting a silhouette out of a large refrigerator box. Paint the player in your team's colors and place him in the yard to greet your guests. If you have a large entryway or foyer, use masking tape to create a miniature football field. Mark off yard lines with strips of tape and block numbers. Move your biggest television into the party room and your second biggest television into the kitchen. Lay a big piece of turf on the buffet table and place a football tee and football in the center. Place bouquets of helium balloons of both team's colors around the party room.

Food: Set up one table for snack foods and another table for sweets. Serve finger foods only. Hot dogs and chicken wings are easy to eat and require no utensils. Cut hero sandwiches to look like footballs and stick toothpick pennants in them. Serve several dips with many different types of chips and crackers. Arrange a vegetable tray with several crudités and a fruit and cheese tray with bite-sized fruit pieces. On the dessert table make a centerpiece of football-shaped cupcakes or a sheet cake decorated to look like a football field. Set out a plate of brownies and an assortment of cookies. Set up a drink station in the kitchen with plenty of soda, beer and bottled water.

Activities: Set up a betting pool before the game starts. (A pool will give the non-football fans a reason to watch the game.) Hand out pom-poms for guests to shake. Throw around small, soft footballs to get the crowd going.

A Super Bowl bash is one of the easiest parties to throw because the football game and the commercials do the entertaining for you. The only thing you really need to worry about is the eating and the drinking. Provide enough snacks and drinks to last four hours (watching football tends to make people want to eat and drink) and make the party room look as football-festive as possible. Of course it helps if you have a big screen TV. If you don't have a big screen, consider renting a projector for the day...everyone will love watching the big game on the big wall! Most of all relax and enjoy the big game. And may the best team win!

NFL Pro Tips - Receivers and Ball Security - Strengthen and More

Receivers: Ball Security Drill

When a receiver catches the ball they need to immediately put it into a secure ball carrying position. The points of a proper catch are: First, opening up your hands with an open triangle. Second, keep your eyes on the ball through the entire catch. Third, secure the ball tight and high against your ribs, forearm, and biceps. The problem is that receivers have a tenancy to start looking down the field before they have the ball properly secured. This error leads to incomplete passes or worse, a fumble. To prevent this, have two receivers throw to each other and as they catch it have them slow down the motion so that they pause at each catch, follow through and tuck.

Nfl 2012

Strength and conditioning: Up Downs

Out of all of the football conditioning drills up downs is one of the most popular. This drill consists of having players run in place as fast and as hard as they can. At the coaches signal the players will drop to the ground and do a push up, and then quickly get back up and start running again. Because this drill can be very taxing, it is important to increase the time spent at this slowly over time as the player's strength increases.

Powerful Blocking Strategy: Double Teaming

Football is all about strategy and fining, or making weak spots in your opponent. A great technique that will give you an advantage on the line is double team blocking. This play is simple, double up and push through. If you ever need to get a running back through or perform a great blitz, remember this technique. To execute this properly have both linemen step together at the same time and lock their hips together. This forms an impenetrable line in the middle and as each lineman is on the edge of the opponent it will be very difficult to go around. Hit the shoulders hard and pin the opponent down as you drive them back. Work it fast and work it hard

Basics to football hand offs

Whether you are a quarterback, running back, or a player that at anytime will receive a hand off you need to realize the basics of a great hand off. Let's look at a simple hand off between a quarterback and a running back to point out the fundamentals of this skill. The running back starts the hand off running towards the quarterback with his arms open creating a pocket for the quarterback to slide the football right into the running back's chest. Once the quarterback has placed the ball in the pocket, or opening, the running back immediately clamps down on the ball protecting it and holding on to it. As the running back leaves from the handoff he needs to stay low to react quickly and again to protect the ball.

Little Known Facts About Hall Of Fame Football Players And The NFL Draft

The National Football League Draft that is held each year to disperse the talent from college football into the pros is one of the most highly anticipated off season moments in football. This is where the stars from college find out where they will be playing in the NFL. Fans hope all year long that their favorite teams will be the teams that add the vital players to take them to the next level. If they're lucky, they may even draft a player that will one day be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The NFL Draft has been held each year since 1935, and it can be very interesting to take a look at how the eventual members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame came to enter the NFL.

Nfl 2012

Here are some interesting facts surrounding those players:

-No draft has seen more members of the Hall of Fame come out of it than the 1964 NFL Draft. That season ten players were taken who would one day get voted into the Hall.

-Hall of Fame coaches Chuck Noll of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Don Shula of the Baltimore Colts and Miami Dolphins were both drafted as players by the Cleveland Browns in the early 1950's.

-The most Hall of Famers ever selected by one team in one draft is four. This occurred in 1974 when the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Lynn Swann in the first round, Jack Lambert in the second round, John Stallworth in the fourth round, and Mike Webster in the fifth round.

-No team has drafted as many eventual members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over the years, and through 2010, they have chosen 17 players who ended up in the Hall.

-Due to World War II, 1943 was the only season in which there was no NFL Draft held.

-The latest a Pro Football Hall of Famer has ever been picked in the NFL Draft is with the 321st pick overall. This happened in 1953, when the New York Giants chose offensive lineman Roosevelt "Rosey" Brown in the 27th round.

-Johnny Unitas would star for the Baltimore Colts and Len Dawson would star for the Kansas City Chiefs during their careers, both quarterbacks earning their way into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They were both originally drafted though by the Pittsburgh Steelers; Unitas in 1955 and Dawson in 1957.
